Convert between Spatial Video/Photo (Apple Vision Pro)
and Side-by-Side 3D content β video & photo, in bulk
SpatialConverter converts spatial videos and spatial photos recorded with iPhone or Apple Vision Pro into SBS (Side-by-Side) 3D content for playback on 3DTVs and VR headsets β and vice versa.
You can process an entire folder at once, even when video and photo files are mixed together.
Turn your iPhone or Vision Pro spatial videos into SBS 3D video for 3DTVs and VR goggles.
Convert spatial photos to SBS still images in JPEG, PNG, TIFF, or HEIC format. Mixed folders with video and photos are processed in one pass.
Convert your existing SBS 3D video into Apple Vision Pro spatial video format, with adjustable stereo parameters.
Convert SBS still images into spatial photos (HEIC) viewable in Apple Vision Pro. FOV, stereo baseline, and disparity are fully adjustable.
Instantly check whether any video or photo file is spatial media, and view its embedded FOV, stereo baseline, and disparity parameters.
Audio is automatically copied to the output video. Supports AAC, MP3, AC3, and more. Not applied to photo conversions.
Select either Spatial Video/Photo β SBS or SBS β Spatial Video/Photo. The settings panel updates automatically to match your choice.
Drag and drop a folder onto the input area, or click the "Selectβ¦" button to choose files or a folder.
π‘ Video and photo files can be mixed in the same folder: The app automatically detects each file type β videos (MOV, MP4, M4V, etc.) and photos (HEIC, HEIF, JPG, PNG, TIFF, etc.) are each converted to the appropriate output format. Multi-file drag & drop and individual file selection are also supported.
Specify where converted files should be saved. Using a separate folder from the input is recommended. Output filenames are automatically suffixed with _sbs (for SpatialβSBS) or _spatial (for SBSβSpatial).
Configure output format, quality, resize options, and stereo parameters. The defaults work well for most cases.
A progress dialog shows live file and frame progress. You can cancel at any time. A summary dialog appears when conversion completes.
π‘ Direction mismatch warning: If the app detects a potential mismatch between your selected direction and the input files (e.g., spatial videos detected when "SBS β Spatial Video/Photo" is selected), a warning dialog will appear before conversion starts, giving you a chance to correct the direction.
Click the "Check Spatial" button (next to the input selector) to inspect any video or photo file. If the file is spatial media, the app displays its embedded parameters β useful for matching settings when converting SBS content back to spatial format.
π‘ If the selected file is not spatial media, the app displays "Not a Spatial Video/Photo." Use this to verify that files exported from the Photos app were saved correctly.
Separate format options are available for video and photo outputs.
The following parameters apply to both video and photo conversions. Spatial photos are always output as HEIC.
A dedicated dialog shows per-file progress and elapsed time in real time (video also shows per-frame progress). Files that don't match the selected direction are automatically skipped.
When you drag a spatial video or spatial photo out of the macOS Photos app, it is automatically converted to standard 2D media. This file is no longer spatial and cannot be converted correctly by this app.
To export the original spatial media, use this method:
After exporting, use the "Check Spatial" button to verify the file was saved correctly as spatial media.
You can also verify a spatial video using QuickTime Player:
If it only shows "H.264" or "HEVC", the file has been converted to 2D. You can also use the built-in "Check Spatial" button in this app for a quick check (works for photos too).
π‘ AVI files: AVI video may have dimensions that are not multiples of 16, which can cause conversion errors. When AVI files are included in the input, the app will automatically suggest enabling the resize option. A resolution such as 1920Γ1080 (multiples of 16) is recommended.
Open the DMG file and drag the app to your Applications folder. That's it.
