3DGS Video Creator for Looking Glass Musubi

Japanese Version

info About This App

This web app creates rotating and oscillating videos from 3D Gaussian Splatting (3DGS) models, optimized for Looking Glass's new photo frame, "Musubi". It runs entirely in your browser β€” no installation required, and it works on both PC and Mac.

πŸ’‘ How Musubi works: "Musubi" is a photo player that overlays a transparent LCD panel on top of a lenticular sheet that creates the illusion of a 3D frame. Brighter parts of the video become transparent, letting the 3D frame behind show through β€” so a flat 2D video appears to have real 3D depth.

star Key Features

  1. Musubi-optimized recording resolution: Videos are exported at a fixed portrait resolution of 576Γ—1024 pixels, ready to play on Musubi as-is.
  2. Freely adjustable background color: Choose any background color for your 3DGS model. Brighter colors produce a stronger 3D effect, since more of Musubi's transparent LCD shows through.
  3. Adjustments for SHARP-generated models: 3DGS models made from 2D photos using Apple's SHARP often have an off-center rotation pivot. Use the Z Position slider to recenter the subject, and the White Border slider to frame the render and enhance the 3D effect.
  4. Just copy it over USB: Transfer the saved .mp4 file to Musubi via USB and it plays automatically β€” no conversion needed.

file_open Opening 3DGS Files

You can load models using either of the following methods:

  1. Click the folder icon folder_open on the far left of the toolbar and choose "Open File".
  2. Drag and drop 3DGS files directly onto the viewer.

Supported formats: .ply / .splat / .ksplat / .spz / .sog

πŸ“‚ Multiple Files: Both methods let you select multiple files at once. When several files are loaded, use the arrow_backarrow_forward (Prev/Next) buttons to switch between them.

tune Slider Adjustments

SliderRangeDescription
White Border 0 to 100 Fades a white frame in from the edges of the render. It's alpha-blended so the original image gradually reappears toward the center, which helps emphasize the 3D effect on Musubi. Set to 0 to disable.
Z Position βˆ’3.0 to +3.0 Adjusts the model's front-to-back (Z-axis) position. 3DGS models generated with Apple's SHARP are often off-center, so use this slider to align the rotation pivot with the subject (typically around βˆ’1.5 to βˆ’2.0).

Click restart_alt to reset both sliders to their default value (0).

photo_camera Creating a 3DGS Model from a 2D Photo (Apple SHARP)

To generate a 3DGS model from your own 2D photo, we recommend using Apple's "SHARP". OnnxSharp on Windows and MLSharp on Mac let you generate a 3DGS model directly from a 2D photo.

content_cut Advanced 3DGS Editing (Super Splat)

If you need advanced editing β€” such as extracting a single subject out of a 3DGS model that captures an entire scene β€” we recommend the web app "Super Splat". It lets you crop, remove unwanted points, and adjust position/rotation, all in your browser.
